WGC-CA Championship. Tiger Woods.

Tiger Woods will challenge the Blue Monster next week. As if there was ever any serious doubt.

Golf's No. 1 attraction formally added his name to the WGC-CA Championship roster Friday afternoon, seeking to regain the Doral title he held three consecutive years until dethroned by Geoff Ogilvy last March.

World No. 2 Sergio García, Phil Mickelson and Colombian star Camilo Villegas also are among the 77 golfers who have qualified for the second of the year's three World Golf Championships events. Play begins next Thursday.

The complete field will be finalized Friday evening, once the 5 p.m. deadline has passed for players to commit.

It will be Woods' second start in his comeback from reconstructive knee surgery. He ended an eight-month absence at the WGC Match Play two weeks ago, winning his first match before falling to South Africa's Tim Clark.

Even with the loss, Woods reported no problems or discomfort in the knee -- leaving little doubt that he'd tee it up at Doral.

Woods also also owns six victories in the CA, which had moved to different venues until settling down in South Florida two years ago.

The CA roster also may be expanded Sunday night if anyone moves into the top 50 in the world rankings, top 10 in the FedEx Cup standings or top 10 in the European Tour's Race to Dubai points chase.
